Cisco 1000 Series Integrated Services Routers EOL

Cisco has not announced EOL for the Cisco 1000 Series Integrated Services Routers as a whole. It has announced it part number by part number, in seven hardware bulletins published between November 2022 and July 2026, so your dates depend on which bulletin lists your exact PID. The newest bulletin (announced July 29, 2026) covers C1112, C1113, C1116, C1117, C1131 and C1161 part numbers. Cisco’s series support page still shows the series as available to order.

This page covers router hardware only. Cisco lists pluggable modules, USB dongles, subscriptions, cellular gateways, promotional bundles and IOS XE releases in separate bulletins.

What each milestone means

  • End of Sale: the last date to order through Cisco’s point-of-sale channels. The hardware keeps working.
  • Last Ship Date: the last date Cisco or its contract manufacturers can be asked to ship. Actual shipping depends on lead time.
  • End of SW Maintenance Releases: the last date Cisco may release final maintenance releases or bug fixes.
  • End of Vulnerability/Security Support: the last date Cisco may release a planned maintenance release or scheduled remedy for a security vulnerability.
  • End of New Service Attachment: the last date to buy a new service contract, or add equipment to an existing one, for gear that isn’t covered.
  • End of Service Contract Renewal: the last date to extend or renew a service contract.
  • Last Date of Support: the last date to receive support under a contract or warranty. After it, Cisco says all support services are unavailable and the product is obsolete.

Replacement options

Official replacement. Cisco names a specific product for each of these PIDs (the bulletins label the column “migration” or “replacement”).

Replacement PID Replaces Notes
C1121-4P C1101-4P; C1111-4P
C1121-8P C1111-8P
C1121X-8P C1111-4P-DNA; C1111-8P-DNA; C1111X-8P; ISR1100-4G; ISR1100X-4G Cisco says DNA subscriptions must be bought separately for the -DNA PIDs.
C1121-4PLTEP C1101-4PLTEP; C1109-2PLTEUS / -2PLTEVZ / -2PLTEGB; C1111-4PLTEEA; C1111-4PLTELA Cisco says pluggable modules can be bought separately (stated for the C1109 PIDs).
C1121-4PLTEP-DNA C1111-4PLTEEA-DNA; C1111-4PLTELA-DNA
C1121-8PLTEP C1111-8PLTEEA; C1111-8PLTELA; C1111-8PLTEEA-DNA; C1111-8PLTELA-DNA The -DNA PIDs map to a non-DNA replacement.
C1121X-8PLTEP ISR1100-4GLTEGB; ISR1100-4GLTENA Pluggable modules can be bought separately.
C1126-8PLTEP C1116-4P; C1116-4PLTEEA; C1116-4PLTEEAPM
C1127-8PLTEP C1117-4P; C1117-4PLTEEA; C1117-4PLTEEAPM; C1117-4PLTELA; C1117-4PMLTEEA
C1127-8PMLTEP C1117-4PM
C8200-1N-4T (Catalyst 8200) ISR1100-6G; ISR1100X-6G

Recommended migration family. Cisco names only a family in these cases:

  • The ISR 1111 Ethernet bulletin points to the ISR 1121 Series.
  • The select ISR 1101/1109 bulletin points to the ISR 1121 Series or the Cisco 8100 Series Secure Routers.
  • The integrated CAT 6 LTE bulletin points to platforms with a PIM slot (C112x, C113x, C116x).

No documented replacement. Cisco lists no replacement for these:

  • The G.FAST C1112 and C1113 PIDs, in every bulletin.
  • C1118-8P and C1128-8PLTEP, where Cisco advises moving to later DSL technologies.
  • All group D C1131 and C1161 PIDs.
  • C1109-4PLTE2PW* and the Wi-Fi variants with D, F, H, N, R or S suffixes in the 2022 bulletin, where no mapping is given.

Checks that matter when planning around these dates

One model name, several sets of dates. C1111-8P (group C), C1111-8PWA (group A) and C1111-8PLTEEA (group B) are in three different groups. Check the full PID, including Wi-Fi, LTE and DNA suffixes.

The 2022 Wi-Fi mapping is outdated. The 2022 bulletin names C1131 or C1131X PIDs as replacements for most Wi-Fi variants of the C1101, C1111, C1112, C1113, C1116, C1117 and C1121. Those C1131/C1131X PIDs are now in the July 2026 bulletin, which lists no migration product for them. In practice, anyone planning from the 2022 mapping needs a current recommendation from Cisco or a partner, because the bulletins don’t give one.

What changes when you move to a documented replacement?

A Cisco migration mapping does not necessarily mean the replacement has the same physical or WAN architecture. Two examples show why the exact PID matters:

End-of-Sale PID Cisco replacement What changes
C1111-4P C1121-4P Both provide 4 GE LAN ports and 2 GE WAN interfaces, but the C1121 platform uses the newer 112x architecture and supports newer pluggable cellular options.
C1117-4P C1127-8PLTEP The replacement increases the LAN count from 4 to 8 and changes the cellular design from the older 1117 platform to a pluggable cellular architecture.
C1101-4P C1121-4P The replacement keeps 4 GE LAN ports but moves to the C1121 platform; the C1101 and C1121 differ in physical dimensions and platform design.

For migration planning, compare the exact old and replacement PID rather than treating the replacement model number as a drop-in equivalent.

Software ends differently by group. Group D’s last release is IOS XE 26.2, while groups B and C end at 17.15 and 17.18. A reasonable approach is to check release notes for your exact PID before standardizing on a release.

Absence from a bulletin is not a status. The C1121, C1126 and C1127 base PIDs appear in these bulletins only as replacements. Other PIDs on Cisco’s series page, such as C1111-4PJ, C1111-8PJ and C1117-4PS, appear in none of the seven. Confirm any PID that isn’t listed against Cisco’s notice listing.

Used and refurbished units

Cisco says remanufactured units may be available in limited supply through its refresh and refurbished programs until the Last Date of Support. These checks apply to this series specifically:

  • Match the PID, not the description. Cisco’s own descriptions sometimes disagree with the PID. C1131X-8PLTEPWD is described as an “A” Wi-Fi variant, and some C1131X descriptions omit the X.
  • The X variants are the 8 GB models. In the bulletins, ISR1100X-4G, C1111X-8P and C1121X-8P are described with 8 GB of memory. The non-X PIDs are not.
  • Integrated and pluggable LTE are different models. C1111-xPLTEEA/LA models have integrated LTE, while C1121-xPLTEP models use pluggable modules.
  • Check any suffix such as -RF. Cisco’s series page lists many PIDs with an -RF suffix but doesn’t define it. Ask the seller what it means.
  • Check license and subscription state on -DNA PIDs.
  • Lab versus production. For a lab, a group A or B unit with no new maintenance releases may be acceptable. For production, the dates for security support and new service attachment matter more. For group A and B units, End of New Service Attachment has passed. In practice, a unit with no existing contract can no longer be newly covered under Cisco’s definition.

FAQ

Does End of Sale mean the router stops working?
No. It ends ordering through Cisco. The milestones above show what else changes and when.

How do I tell which bulletin covers my router?
Match the full PID, including Wi-Fi, LTE and DNA suffixes, against the part number table above. The model family alone isn’t enough.

Are the C1121, C1126 and C1127 end of life?
The bulletins above list their base PIDs only as replacements, apart from the C1121 Wi-Fi variants in group A. Check any other PID in Cisco’s notice listing.

Does support continue after End of Sale?
Cisco states that customers with active service contracts keep getting TAC support under their contract terms until the Last Date of Support.
